Hello good friends!
It is a joy for me to share some of my travel adventures and learnings with you as I go. I hope you find here inspiration for your own grand adventures or out- of- the- box whimseys!
My own pilgrimage began many months before I set foot on the plane to Bangkok. It wove through excitement, fear, doubt, confusion, and many other points. The transition from "No way" to "Here I go", from " Who do you think you are " to " You can do it" took lots of time, prayer, and encouragement from folks like you. May you too find the courage to listen to and follow the secret whispering of your heart.
My itinerary takes me to Thailand, Australia, Bali, India, Nepal, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and finally Kenya. This is both a very personal pilgrimage, including treks, pilgrimage walks, and monastic retreats, and an opportunity to meet, support and learn from women and children in many walks of life. I'll be connecting, through song, with grassroots projects for girls and women devoted to economic empowerment and personal healing from abuse and trafficking. I'll also be singing with children in orphanages and schools. This is all made possible through a generous grant from the Mary L. Stevens alumnae travel fellowship of Wellesley College, my alma mater ( class of 1974).
I'm slowly learning the ins and outs of communications through iPad and this site, so I will gradually post backdated stories and catch you up on my month in Thailand. See future pages for updates and photos.
I thank my wonderful adventurous parents, Dave and Margaret Rose, for instilling in me the spirit of a traveler -curiosity, daring, a love of the open road and the unknown just beyond the horizon. And I thank my loving life partner David, for whom 8 months at home will be another kind of inner pilgrimage.
